One person hurt in shooting near Juneteenth event in Grand Rapids

GRAND RAPIDS (WOOD-AM) - A man is recovering after getting shot near Heartside Park last night, where a Juneteenth festival had just wrapped up.

The organizer said the shooting did not disrupt the festival, as it was outside the event. He also said they began escorting people out after the police established a presence.

"We were like, of course, looking like where did it come from and then (saw) it was outside of the event. So we told our people to stay in and stay away from the (gun) fire," Duke Turley told WOOD-TV.

It's not yet known if anyone is in custody.
