LANSING (WOOD-AM) - Legislation that would let 17-year-olds serve alcohol in Michigan restaurants has cleared the legislature.

It would require the teen employees to go through an alcohol serving training program. One manager also must be at least 18 years old.

The legislation has the support of the Michigan Licensed Beverage Association. They say it could lead to faster service and higher staffing levels.

The bill is now heading to the governor's desk.
