Board deadlocks, 5 GOP candidates to not make primary ballot

The Michigan Board of State Canvassers is deadlocked in a vote on whether to include five GOP candidates on the August primary ballot after thousands of signatures were determined to be fraudulent.

The deadlock means the names will not be included on the ballot.

However, legal challenges are expected.

The decision affects former Detroit Police Chief James Craig, businessman Perry Johnson, financial adviser Michael Markey, Michigan State Police Capt. Michael Brown and entrepreneur Donna Brandenburg.
