Report: Five GOP candidates for governor short of signature threshold

LANSING (WOOD-AM) - Donna Brandenburg, Michael Brown, Michael Markey, Perry Johnson and James Craig are at risk of not making the Republican primary ballot for governor.

State canvassers will decide Thursday whether to exclude them following a report from the state election bureau that said all five candidates failed to get enough valid signatures.

The report, according to WOOD-TV, said more than 10,000 of Craig's signatures and 9,393 of Johnson's signatures were forged.

Five candidates, including Ryan Kelley and Tudor Dixon, did reach the signature threshold.
