Record heat expected for Amway Riverbank Run

GRAND RAPIDS (WOOD-AM) - Heat precautions are being taken in advance of this weekend's Amway Riverbank Run.

Record warmth is expected this Saturday, possibly north of 80 degrees.

Organizers are urging participants to train this week to get used to the warmer weather.

"We've been training since November in very cold and cool temperatures," Chief Executive Russ Hines told WOOD-TV.

Hines says extra water, towels and medics will be on hand for events this Saturday. Finish fest will also be moved to an air-conditioned facility.

You can register for the race here.

WOOD Radio will have complete coverage of the action this Saturday morning.
