The Newaygo City Police Department is adding police social worker to their staff.
Nicole Klomp will not carry a badge or a gun.
Klomp says she doesn't want to be a police officer, she wants to be a social workers, however she wants to support law enforcement.
The position was created through a partnership with Arbor Circle.
Klomp says she will bridge the gap between officers and the community when it comes to social and mental health issues.
