The Grand Rapids Police Department released footage on Wednesday afternoon of the officer involved shooting death of Patrick Lyoya.
The incident happened on April 4.
The footage shows an officer pulling Lyoya over, a long struggle between the two and ends with the officer shooting and killing Lyoya.
Governor Whitmer says Michigan State Police will conduct an investigation and then prosecutors should consider the evidence and act appropriately.
Whitmer says justice is foundation to safety.
Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel says she expects GRPD to fully cooperate with MSP's investigation and her office is always open to provide assistance to the county prosecutor if needed.
