The Big Three 3-23-22
1 Biden will depart for Europe today on one of the highest-stakes presidential trips in recent memory to rally the West at a pivotal moment for Ukraine -- and his presidency.
He is expected to announce additional sanctions on Russia, but so far, the measures seem to have done little to deter Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Russia is now refusing to rule out the possibility of using nuclear weapons, and their troops have begun firing on the city of Mariupol from ships in the Sea of Azov, according to a senior US defense official.
2 Reports of damage from drivers on US-131 south of Grand Rapids after pieces of concrete were thrown at cars. The suspects are believed to be teenagers standing off the side of the highway.
It happened to two drivers Monday and at least three drivers Tuesday near the 76th Street exit on 131.
3 The Senate Judiciary Committee will hold a third day of confirmation hearings today for Biden's Supreme Court nominee Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson.
During her second day of confirmation hearings in the Senate, Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson denied claims that she has been too lenient on child porn offenders.
Prior to becoming a federal appellate judge, Jackson served on the U.S. Sentencing Commission, a group created in 1984 for the stated purpose of “[reducing] sentencing disparities and [promoting] transparency and proportionality in sentencing.”
“As a member of the U.S. Sentencing Commission, Jackson advocated for drastic change in how the law treats sex offenders by eliminating the existing mandatory minimum sentences for child porn,” Hawley wrote on Twitter.
