Resentencing Could Free "Juvenile Lifer" Who Sexually Assaulted Infant Son

GRAND RAPIDS (WOOD-AM) - A Grand Rapids man who has served 21 years of his life-without-parole sentence after shaking and sexually assaulting his one-month-old son could soon be out of prison.

Judge Paul Denenfeld ruled that Damon Jackson, 41, should be given a term-of-years sentence.

Jackson is a "juvenile lifer." His sentence required review after the Supreme Court declared that life-without-parole sentences for juveniles were unconstitutional.

State law requires Jackson to be given a sentence between 25 and 60 years.
