1 Biden is headed to Kentucky to survey the damage and offer federal support for the victims of devastating tornadoes that killed dozens and left thousands more in the region without heat, water, or electricity.
More than 30 tornadoes tore through Kentucky and four other states over the weekend, killing at least 88 people and demolishing homes, downing power lines, and cutting off residents from key utilities as temperatures dropped below freezing in Kentucky earlier this week.
2 Congress voted toraise the national debt limit by $2.5 trillionand extend it into 2023. The vote passed out of the Senate last night along party lines with Democrats voting for it and Republicans voting against it.
3 9.6%That’s how mucha key measure of inflation roseover the 12 months ending in November aspandemic-era supply chain headachesand a labor shortage continued. It’s the biggest jump on record for the producer price index and follows last week’s reading of inflation at the consumer level, which rose by 6.8% over the same period -- a level not seen since 1982.
