The Big Three 11-19-21

1 Spectrum Health is now being classified in "red status."

That means staff is all hands on deck to deal with what’s being called an overwhelming number of patients due to high spread of COVID-19 and staff and supply shortages.

This is the first time Michigan's largest health system has been in "red status" since the beginning of the pandemic.

Despite that fact, we learned yesterday that they’re no longer recognizing natural immunity from prior infection for their staff. Healthcare workers will have until December 4th to get at least the first of two or the single shot jab. If they don’t comply, they’ll be taken off of the schedule. No shot within 14 days and Spectrum days they’ll consider it “voluntary resignation.”

2 The CDC is expected to sign off on boosters for all adults today after getting the green light from the FDA. Currently, only older adults and those with compromised immune systems are approved.

3 The House could vote on and pass the $1.9 T “sweeping social spending and climate change ” bill today. It includes much of the green new deal plans that Americans have rejected.

Nancy Pelosi had hoped to vote on the measure late yesterday, but House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy stalled floor action with a marathon speechthat stretched into the early hours of this morning.

Whether it can survive in the Senate remains an open question.
