Police say the suspect who died after an hours long standoff in Kalamazoo, killed himself.
Thirty-five-year-old Alex Rawls was wanted for a shooting on November 1, when he allegedly shot his ex-girlfriend's sister five times and then fired shots into a nearby home.
Police had a warrant for Rawls arrest and learned he was staying at a home on Washington Avenue.
The standoff began at 10:45 a.m. Monday when police arrived at the home to attempt to arrest Rawls.
Police say Rawls fired shots at officers as they attempted multiple methods to get him out of the building, including destruction of the home.
Just before 3 a.m., Rawls fired more shots at officers and then turned the gun on himself.
