As construction begins on the US-31 drawbridge near Grand Haven, officials are adjusting traffic light timing to help with backups.
The Michigan Department of Transportation estimated the work would add 30 minutes to drivers' commutes, however on Tuesday, drivers reported 45 minute delays.
Officials will increase the green light times for vehicles heading northbound on US-31 at Jackson Street.
