Ron Armstrong returns with an update on what Unlock Michigan has been doing lately.
The Big Three
1 A big win at the Supreme Court yesterday. The court ruled the Biden administration must move forward with reviving the Trump-era "Remain in Mexico" policy.
The policy forces migrants to stay in Mexico as they await their US immigration court dates. It was suspended at the beginning of Biden's term and formally terminated months later. However, Texas and Missouri sued to challenge the Biden administration's decision. A federal district judge appointed by President Trump then ruled that the way the Biden administration ended the program violated US law. The Supreme Court sided with this lower court decision, and its rejection could set the tone for how the court views emergency requests from the Biden administration in the future.
2 Parents packed the board of commissioners meeting to protest Ottawa County's mask mandate from the health Dept. for K-6th yesterday. Both patents and children joined in chanting, singing, even praying in the lobby.
Kent County Board of Commissioners meeting scheduled for Thursday has been moved to DeVos Place at 10am
3 West Michigan Congressman, Peter Meijer, made an unannounced trip to Afghanistan with another Democrat rep.
The State Department and U.S. military reportedly had to divert resources for the congressmen.
The congressmen say they were there to gather information and conduct oversight.
