Auditor General to Study Michigan Nursing Home Deaths

LANSING (WOOD-AM) - The reported and unreported long-term care facility deaths during the COVID-19 pandemic will be studied by the Michigan Auditor General.

The request to Doug Ringler was done by state Representative Steve Johnson of Wayland in west Michigan. Ringler has a late September or mid-October goal to finish the preliminary work.

The state says there were over 4,200 COVID-19 deaths in nursing homes and nearly 1,500 deaths at adult foster care and homes for elderly people as of June 29.
