Health departments are monitoring mosquito populations for viruses after recent heavy rain is expected to lead to an increase in the population.
Kalamazoo County Health and Community Service is running their own Eastern Equine Encephalitis surveillance program.
Five traps are placed around the county in places that tend to attract the type of mosquitoes that are known to transmit EEE.
The county says they have not yet had a test come back positive for the virus yet.
