1 A number of purse snatchings have been reported at large retail establishments in Wyoming, Grand Rapids, Kentwood, & Kent County over the past few weeks. The suspects target females over the age of 50 who are alone in the parking lot and have their purse in a shopping cart.
While the victims aren’t not paying attention, the suspects rip the purse from the cart and run.
2 Finally, we’re drying out. We’re expecting less humid conditions arriving into the weekend.
Flooding concerns still exist. The Grand River is now at flood stage and three active flood warnings are in place for parts of the Thornapple, Maple and Grand Rivers. All are in effect until tomorrow and dozens of roads are still closed in Kent County due to flooding.
3 The number of people dead in the Miami area condo collapse is now up to 12.
149 are unaccounted for.
Residents of the Surfside condo said they regularly complained that construction on a neighboring building would cause their units to shake, and at least one resident expressed concern that construction was affecting the building’s structure. Another lawsuit has now been filed against the Champlain Towers South condominium association on behalf of a group of residents, claiming the association failed to maintain the building in a safe condition.
