Researchers at the University of Michigan say a baby boom is expected over the summer.
Maternal fetal medicine director at Michigan Medicine Von Voigtlander Women's Hospital Molly Stout says birth rates declined at the beginning of the pandemic however they are starting to see signs of a dramatic rebound.
U of M says between the summer and fall of 2021, the hospital is preparing to see a 10 to 15 percent increase in births.
Research shows similar trends occurred after other events in history including the 1918 pandemic, the Great Depression and 2008 recession.
