Restaurants Bracing For Closures if Epidemic Order is Extended

GRAND RAPIDS (WOOD-AM) - Restaurant operators across Michigan are waiting to hear whether the state's ban on indoor sit-down dining will be extended again.

Restaurant Partners Management president Jeff Lobdell says he may be forced to make tough decisions if he can't reopen his dining rooms next week.

"We've decided if we can’t get our dining rooms open on Monday, which we're praying we can, we're going to shut down completely," Lobdell said. "When we're shut down to do nothing but takeout, there's so much overhead that the restaurant loses $15,000 (per week), and if we shut down completely, we lose $10,000."

The epidemic order is currently scheduled to expire on Sunday.
