Kristen Rogers is making history as the first woman to serve as a deputy police chief for the Grand Rapids Police Department.
Rogers will take over for Deputy Chief David Kiddle, who announced his retirement last week.
Rogers joined GRPD in 1996 and was a detective and on a patrol unit for 16 years.
She moved to the Family Services Team in 2012 and was promoted to lieutenant in 2015.
