The West Michigan Whitecaps spent 27 years as a low-A minor league affiliate.
The team held a press conference Thursday morning saying the team has been promoted to the High-A affiliate for the Detroit Tigers.
The move means most of the Tigers' top prospects will now spend time with the team.
Whitecaps General Manager Jim Jarecki says they believe they are on track to play some baseball in 2021 after having their 2020 season cancelled.
