The COVID-19 Task Force on Racial Disparities released their report on the impact of the virus on the Black community.
Governor Gretchen Whitmer says the virus has shown "deep inequities" in affordable housing, health care, transportation and good jobs for people of color.
At the start of the COVID-19 outbreak, 38 percent of all cases and 41 percent of deaths were Black individuals, while they account for 14 percent of Michigan's population.
Most recently, data from the task force report shows Black individuals make up 5.7 percent of deaths and 9.1 percent of cases.
