Michigan Prisons Testing Video Calling

The Michigan prison system is now testing video calls with loved ones as a contact method during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Department of Corrections stopped in-person visits in March due to safety concerns.

The Parnall Correction Facility near Jackson started the calls for inmates on Monday. The pilot program will roll-out to the Chippewa, Ionia, Richard A. Handlon and Women's Huron Valley correctional facilities over the next month.
