MUSKEGON HEIGHTS, Mich. (WOOD) — Muskegon Heights Police said a teenager was killed and another was injured after a shooting in Muskegon Heights.

Officers with the Muskegon Heights Police Department said the shooting happened around 2:30 a.m. Monday on Woodcliffe Drive near Summit Avenue.

News 8 learned that the two teens were brothers, ages 14 and 17. One of the teens was killed and the other was taken to the hospital in critical condition, according to police. Family members said the 17-year-old was killed.

Reports from Muskegon Heights police initially indicated the brothers fired at one another. Later, however, Chief Joseph Thomas and family members said that the teens were actually shot by a third person who they knew. That third person apparently fired at the pair from outside their apartment.

Police said no suspects were in custody later Monday.
