TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. (WOOD TV) — On Friday, the state of Michigan asked for a pledge from Enbridge Inc. covering any costs that would be incurred if oil were to leak from the twin pipelines extending across two of the Great Lakes.
Dan Eichinger, director of Michigan's Department of Natural Resources asked Enbridge to carry $900 million of liability insurance. The DNR also seeks a set aside of $1.88 billion in additional assets for use as needed in the event of a catastrophic spill.
