GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Downtown Grand Rapids is currently filled with a massive crowd, gathered there for a mostly silent protest in response to the death of George Floyd.
NEWS 8 cameras shoed hundreds of protesters lining up on Fulton Street in both directions from Grand Rapids Police Department headquarters.
The protestors are expected to stand silently from until about 5:45pm while holding signs that say “I’m still here. I’m still pissed.”
Police said the crowd stretched from Fulton Street Bridge to College Avenue.
Observers saw most participants were staying silent, speakers are talking during the event about the need for police reform and leading some chanting.
Protest organizers are ensuring people are staying on the sidewalks.
