GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Police said protesters have smashed the windows of the Villa store in downtown Grand Rapids.
GRPD said the damage happened around 9 p.m. Saturday during a protest against police brutality at the store on the corner of Division Avenue and Fulton Street.
Grand Rapids Police Department’s headquarters were also vandalized during the protest just after 8:30 p.m. Earlier in the evening, some protesters were seen press against the headquarters glass doors.
Thousands of people came to Kalamazoo and Grand Rapids to protest police brutality against minorities following the death of George Floyd, who died after a Minneapolis police officer knelt on his neck.
Police also noted there have been no reports of physical assaults at either event.
