Gov. Whitmer ok's nonessential health procedures effective May 29

Among the numerous restrictions that were loosened by Gov. Gretchen Whitmer today, is news that the governor is lifting her ban on nonessential medical procedures, beginning Friday May 29.

The conservative Mackinac Center Legal Foundation in Michigan, and the Miller Johnson law firm, filed a lawsuit on behalf of a patient who is unable to have surgery, as well as three medical practices that have been unable to provide necessary care.

They say the governor’s policy reversal was in part because of the Center’s legal pressure.

Whitmer also further relaxed stay-at-home restrictions, allowing groups of up to 10 people can gather immediately ahead of the Memorial Day weekend.

Also on Thursday she announced that retailers can reopen by appointment only, starting Tuesday, limited to no more than 10 customers inside at a time.
