GRAND RAPIDS (WOOD-AM) - Calls to the United Way's 211 hotline increased roughly 50 percent after businesses started closing due to the coronavirus pandemic.
"They're doubled from the same time as last year," Sherri Vainavicz, Heart of West Michigan United Way's 211 director, told WOOD-TV.
211 connects people with food, shelter, clothing and other services.
