BUDGET IMPASSE
The Republican-led Michigan Legislature has voted to restore more than half of the state funding that was vetoed during a budget impasse. The move Tuesday largely resolves a monthslong stalemate after Gov. Gretchen Whitmer pulled the plug on funding with a veto and addresses what to do with more than $370 million in unallocated funds in the new year.

A tentative $69.5 million settlement has been reached in ongoing litigation brought by the state of Michigan against Wolverine Worldwide for its contamination of groundwater with per- and polyflouroalkyl, also known as PFAS.

After House leaders made their announceMent yesterday at 9am, The House Judiciary Committee will begin debating the two articles of impeachment against President Trump -- one for abuse of power and the other for obstruction of Congress. It sets up a potential doomed impeachment vote before Christmas in the house but nothing is likely to happen in the senate where democrats don’t have the votes.
USMCA ANNOUNCED AN HOUR LATER
The deal would strengthen labor laws, create auto manufacturing jobs, open up agricultural trade and remove controversial protections for certain drugs. The US-Mexico-Canada Agreement, or USMCA, is a major legislative victory for Trump.
A full vote is expected next week in the House; the Senate will vote on itonly after an impeachment trial concludes, Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said.
