(Undated) -- Actress Valerie Harper is dead at the age of 80.
Her death Friday follows a 2013 diagnosis with terminal brain cancer, in which she was given only months to live.
She's best known for her Emmy winning role as Rhoda Morgenstern in the 1970s television series "The Mary Tyler Moore Show." The New York native also landed her own spinoff show "Rhoda," which earned her an additional Emmy as well as a Golden Globe Award. Her other TV credits include the lead roles in the series "Valerie" and "City."
While known for her time on TV, Harper got her start in show business on the stage and has a number of film credits to her name.
