Election day: Polls now closed

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Polls across Michigan have closed for Tuesday’s election.

Polls opened at 7 a.m. and closed at 8 p.m. 

24 Hour News 8 is tracking 24 races, including a 10-year millage to fund Central Dispatch in Branch County, a millage to keep Dorr Township library open, and a second try at a $37 million millage for Tri County Area Schools that failed in May.

There are also a few elected positions on various ballots, including a primary in the Grand Haven mayor race.

Tuesday’s primary election results will shape how the process moves forward.

In Grand Rapids’ Ward 2 city commission race, three candidates are running in the primary. The two candidates in Tuesday’s primary will move on to the November election unless someone gets 50% or more of the vote. In that case, that individual wins the seat.

For Grand Rapids Library Board race, the top six of the seven candidates running in Tuesday’s primary will move on to the November election. In November, the six candidates will vie for three seats.

In the Muskegon’s Ward 4 city commission race, four candidates are running in the primary Tuesday. The top two candidates will move on to the November election.

In the Grand Haven mayoral race, three candidates are running in Tuesday’s primary. The top two candidates will move on to the November election.

In Grand Haven’s city council race, five people are running in the primary. The top two candidates that receive the most votes Tuesday will go on to the November election.

In Holland’s city council race, three primary candidates are running in Tuesday’s election. The top two candidates will move on to the November election unless someone gets 50% or more of the vote. In that scenario, that individual wins the seat.
