1 A human smuggling investigation by the military led to the arrest of 16 Marines at California's CampPendleton yesterday. The arrests came weeks after two Marines were arrested near the border - accused of smuggling three Mexicans into the United States - a day after the military said a Navy SEAL team was sent back from Iraq because of discipline issues.
2 The Justice Department says it will carry out executions of federal death row inmates for the first time since 2003. In 2014, President Obama directed the department to conduct a review of capital punishment and issues surrounding lethal injection drugs. That review resulted in what effectively was a freeze on executions. The DOJ says the Bureau of Prisons has completed the review and the
3 Credit reporting agency Equifax is preparing to shell out $700 millionin compensation following a massive data breach in 2017 that exposed the personal information of 150 million people. It's the largest settlement ever paid in a data breach, and if you were one of the people affected, you may be entitled to a cut. In addition to reimbursing people who purchased credit monitoring services after the breach, and paying civil penalties, the Federal Trade Commission has ordered Equifax to change the way it handles private user data.
