KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) — Officers from the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety responded to a series of calls complaining of crowds, fights, noise and shots fired early Sunday morning.
Authorities told 24 Hour News 8 that the disturbances came from an x-train, or a line of cars participating in illegal activity that cruise the streets in the early morning hours.
Starting just after midnight, the incidents happened in several areas of the Northside neighborhood that lead to multiple arrests.
A 22-year-old female resident was the first arrested near Florence Street and N. Westnedge Avenue after firing off multiple shots from a handgun. She was charged with felonious assault and possession of a firearm.
Just after 2:30 a.m. officers arrested a 22-year-old Kalamazoo resident after recovering an unregistered handgun and ammunition during a traffic stop in the 700 block of Douglas Ave. That person was charged with felony charges related to the gun.
