LAKE TOWNSHIP, Mich., (WOOD) — A woman from the Chicago area is dead after being rear-ended by a pick-up truck early Sunday morning.
The Berrien County Sheriff's Office said the woman was traveling eastbound on I-94 around 2:30 a.m. in a Chevy Sonic when she suddenly stopped in the right lane.
That caused the vehicle behind her to swerve out of the way and therefore did not give the Ford F-250 pick-up truck behind that vehicle enough time to stop before rear-ending the Chevy.
Authorities told 24 Hour News 8 that she was pronounced dead at the scene.
The woman was taken to WMED in Kalamazoo where an autopsy will be preformed.
It is unclear why she suddenly stopped in the right lane or if drugs and alcohol were a factor.
This crash remains under investigation by the Berrien County Sheriff's Office.
