MUSKEGON HEIGHTS, Mich. (via WOOD TV 8) — A family of three escaped an apartment fire with minor injuries Saturday afternoon in Muskegon Heights.
The fire started shortly before 5 p.m. in the 700 block of E. Hovey Ave.
Muskegon Heights Fire Chief Chris Dean said the family was on the second floor of the apartment building and was alerted to the fire by working smoke alarms in the home. The fire appeared to have originated on the main floor.
The mother and two children inside one of the affected apartments escaped through a window.
