PERE MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — The arctic cold gripping West Michigan has claimed another life.
It happened in the 1100 block of North Gary Street in Mason County’s Pere Marquette Township, about two miles northeast of downtown Ludington.
The Mason County Sheriff’s Office says a 77-year-old Ludington woman had been visiting her mom when she apparently fell while walking to her vehicle and couldn’t get up.
Investigators believe the woman fell around 7 p.m. Sunday and laid in the snow, exposed to the subzero temperatures until a neighbor discovered her in the yard around 9 a.m. Monday.
