GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Grand Rapids Public Schools will hold its School Choice Expo and Family Winter Carnival Tuesday.
The expo is a free event offering GRPS students, parents and prospective families the opportunity to learn more about school choices while enjoying a winter celebration. Children's activities include a bounce house, winter themed games, activities and prizes. Dinner is also provided for free.
Grand Rapids Public Schools offers the largest selection of schools in West Michigan, including many themed schools and centers of innovation.
In many theme schools, students have an opportunity for place-based education and extracurricular programming to enhance learning.
Centers of innovation are a unique, public-private partnership that offers students a rigorous classroom education with opportunities to connect with professional mentors, job shadowing and internships. It is also a chance to earn college and trade school credits or career certification.
Principals from each theme school and center of innovation will be at the expo to share information about their school and showcase what makes them unique. Also, to answer any questions that the parents and students might have.
