KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) — A Kalamazoo man is in custody after police say he robbed a driver on East Main Street.
It happened around 9:30 a.m. Tuesday in the 1600 block of E. Main Street, near Phelps Avenue in Kalamazoo’s Eastside neighborhood.
The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety says the robber approached the driver, flashed a weapon at the victim and demanded money. The thief ran away with an undisclosed amount of cash.
Investigators say they caught up to the suspect at a home in the 500 block of Phelps Street. Police say they also found the weapon and stolen money there.
The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety says they’re withholding the 34-year-old man’s name until he’s formally charged in the case. He’s being held on an outstanding warrant, as well as charges of armed robbery and felonious assault.
