HARTFORD TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Van Buren County authorities say a deadly head-on crash Saturday afternoon was caused by a man who was driving drunk.
The crash happened just after 2:30 p.m. Saturday in the 60,000 block of Red Arrow Highway near 60th Street in Hartford Township between Hartford and Lawrence.
According to Van Buren County sheriff's deputies, an off-duty sergeant spotted the crash and began helping those injured before emergency responders arrived.
Authorities say a 23-year-old man from Benton Harbor was eastbound when he crossed the centerline, crashing into a Jeep head-on in the westbound lane.
