OSHTEMO TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Investigators believe a driver who hit a man pushing a bicycle west of Kalamazoo was driving under the influence of drugs.
The Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office says 52-year-old William Fitzgerald of Paw Paw was walking west, pushing his bicycle along Stadium Drive near South 1st Street in Oshtemo Township when he was hit by a pickup truck shortly before 6 p.m. Sunday.
The sheriff's office says Fitzgerald was taken to Bronson Methodist Hospital with minor injuries.
The driver of the pickup truck was arrested on the suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs.
Investigators say the driver is a 53-year-old man from Marcellus, but they are withholding his name until he’s formally charged in the case.
