State shuts down GR auto shop for unlicensed repairs

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A Grand Rapids auto shop has been shut down by the state, at least for now.

The Michigan Secretary of State’s Office says it issued a cease and desist order against Nacho’s Auto Repair on Dec. 20, after a state regulator found the business at 1175 Burton Street SE was repairing vehicles without a license.

The state says the inspector noticed the issue during facility visits in October and December. The state official also said employees were working on a vehicle’s transmission, even though the business is not certified in transmission repairs.
