ALPINE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Some Kent County drivers who braved the slick roads Monday got a nice surprise at the pump in Alpine Township.
At the Citgo station on Alpine Avenue near 7 Mile Road, price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline dropped to $1.99. Several other stations along M-37 appeared to follow suit, based on Gas Buddy’s online price map.
There were no lines to fill up at the Citgo Monday morning, which is a good thing according to petroleum analyst Patrick DeHaan. He says prices should keep shrinking over the next few days.
Nationwide, the average price for a gallon or regular unleaded gas is $2.53. That’s about $0.30 less than a month ago.
DeHaan says drivers across the U.S. will spend $117 million less on gasoline now compared to a month ago, just in time for the holidays.
