GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — More than 3,900 runners participated a local Thanksgiving tradition Thursday, lacing up to run the Turkey Trot in Grand Rapids.
It was the 26th year for the 5K run/walk, which benefits student-athletes at Grand Rapids Public Schools. While many school districts require student-athletes to pay to play, the Turkey Trot raised some $70,000 last year and the year before, helping 6,000 kids participate.
