KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) — The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety says one of its officers was hit by a vehicle while talking to residents in the city's Northside neighborhood.
The crash happened around 12:15 p.m. Monday in the 600 block of Douglas Avenue, near W. North Street.
The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety says the officer was with a group of investigators talking to neighbors when the vehicle hit him on the sidewalk.
Kalamazoo DPS says the vehicle that hit the officer was trying to avoid another vehicle when it ran over the curb.
Other public safety officers treated the injured officer, who was taken to a hospital. His condition is unclear.
Investigators say alcohol and speed to not appear to be factors in the crash.
