CHARLESTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — You can book a stay at a recently restored Frank Lloyd Wright house near Galesburg.
Originally built for Samuel and Dorothy Eppstein in the early 1950s, the house is on Hawthorne Drive off S. 36th Street in Charleston Township. It's in a neighborhood called The Acres, which includes three other Wright homes.
Marika Broere and Tony Hellebrandt of Cambridge, Ontario, bought the Eppstein House in 2016 and spent more than a year restoring it. Between the fall of 2016 and December 2017, they preserved the textile blocks, added climate control, upgraded the plumbing and electricity, installed a new septic tank and drain system and reroofed the house.
