KENTWOOD, Mich. (via WOOD TV 8) — A group of veterans had the chance to share stories with high school students as a way to show appreciation for their impact on our nation.
The student council at East Kentwood High School planned the visit for a group from Holland Home. They spent the morning telling history students about their service before enjoying cake and coffee during the lunch period.
"You read in a textbook, but you can't really comprehend it because you weren't there," Vivian Tran, one of the students who organized the day, told 24 Hour News 8. "But then hearing it from someone who was there, I think it impacts you more and you take away something different than hearing it from a teacher in a classroom."
