Former MAX director pleads guilty to embezzlement

HOLLAND, Mich. (WOOD) — The former executive director of Macatawa Area Express has pleaded guilty to a felony embezzlement charge.

Linda  LeFebre pleaded guilty to embezzlement of more than $20,000, but less  than $50,000. Court documents show she manipulated the MAX payroll to be  paid for more hours than she worked and used a company credit card to  pay for items for herself.

The documents also show that police said she admitted to misusing the credit card.

LeFebre was put on leave in March when an investigation into the alleged embezzlement began before she resigned in April.

Investigators going through the last five years of MAX’s financial records previously said it appeared only one employee was involved.

She is scheduled to be sentenced Nov. 26, 2018.
