Detroit Lions trade Golden Tate for draft pick

DETROIT, Mich. (WOOD) — Detroit Lions are bidding goodbye to top wide receiver Golden Tate.

The Detroit Lions announced Tuesday afternoon they had traded Tate to the Philadelphia Eagles for a third-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft.

Tate indirectly confirmed the trade earlier Tuesday on Twitter.

“It’s been real DETROIT! I’ll love ya forever. Philly Philly let’s get it!” Tate tweeted.

Tate won a Super Bowl with the Seattle Seahawks before coming to Detroit in  2014. As an unrestricted free agent with the Lions, he's started in 64  of the 71 games he's appeared in.

Tate racked up 416 receptions, 4,741 yards and 22 touchdowns in his time with Detroit.
