MUSKEGON HEIGHTS, Mich. (WOOD) — Evidence markers littered a Muskegon Heights street and sidewalk Sunday afternoon as officers investigated a shooting that injured a man.
The shooting happened around 2:25 p.m. near the intersection of Jefferson Street and Rotterdam Avenue, according to the Muskegon Heights Police Department. 911 callers reported multiple shots fired by three men and said one of them appeared to have been shot in the leg.
"It was just a shootout," Marilyn Brown told 24 Hour News 8.
The shooting happened in front of her home.
"I heard some arguing and by the time I walked to the door and looked out, I just saw them shooting, shooting, shooting," Brown recalled.
Another neighbor told 24 Hour News 8 he heard about eight shots fired and hurried inside his home after the first two.
"The shooting only lasted like 'pow pow pow pow pow pow pow' and it was over with. They all scattered and ran," Brown said.
